Summary:  2024-2025 Social Work Placement Opportunities with i&i

 

Micro Level of Practice

Potential for co-leadership of trauma-informed on-line group counselling, therapy and psycho-educational sessions with a focus on support to adult parents with child(ren) (age 5 – 29) with a mental health issue.  Sessions could be peer-mentor focused and could be facilitated across general mental health issues or directed to specific diagnosis that a child may have, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, suicidality, self-harm, disordered eating, OCD, substance misuse, etc.  Co-leadership would occur with an i&i staff member holding an MSW RSW designation or with other leading qualifications.  Co-leaders are also selected for lived experience whenever possible. 

 

Specialized group counselling is also possible for parents that are coping with a traumatic experience or longstanding trauma, to provide support for parents that are parenting through stress, challenges, and significant difficulty, such as when a parent is coping with any loss due to suicide.

​

Engagement with adult group counselling requires a Police Vulnerable Sector Screening Check.

 

Mezzo Level of Practice

Potential for trauma-informed workplace services projects and/or trauma-informed training delivery that serves government, corporate or human and social service sector organizations.  Students would be working with agency leaders and/or with front-line organizational employees. Examples of workplace services projects and trauma-informed training opportunities:

  • Enhancing agency client/participant in-take with trauma-informed process redesign

  • Trauma-informed strategic planning

  • Assessing workplace mental health and well-being, with trauma-informed strategies for increased workplace psychological safety

  • Building a parenting toolkit to support parents that have a child(ren) coping with suicidality

  • Building workplace policies to support psychological safety

  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Workshops

  • Trauma-Informed Training Certifications (Level 1 & 2) (10 Workshops across 2 Certifications)

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Harm Reduction Strategies

  • Preventing and Addressing Compassion Fatigue, Workplace Stress and Burnout

Janice's psychotherapeutic services are recognized by health insurance providers for medical health benefits.

Executive Management

Janice holds an MBA.  She is a certified Canadian Human Resources Leader (CHRL), holds postgraduate training in project management and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).  Janice has worked in corporate and not-for–profit agencies both large and small (up to $500M annual revenue) including three organizations awarded Top Employer designations.

We provide psycho-educational mental health and trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, strengths-based, anti-discriminatory, anti-racist, gender-equitized training, consulting and community engagement to national, provincial, and local government, corporate and community agencies.  We provide practicum placements and internship training to post-secondary social work students studying in the fields of mental health & wellness and trauma-informed organizational development.  Services also include community educational outreach, training courses and conferences to diverse audiences, etc.
